PROFILE

Dr. Munawar Iqbal Kamboh was appointed as Project Manager (Hydro) in the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), Ministry of Energy (Power Division), Government of Pakistan in August 2004. Currently, he is holding the position of Director General (Hydro), PPIB. During his tenure in PPIB, he managed successful commissioning of 884 MW Suki Kinari, 720 MW Karot, 150 MW Patrind, 102 MW Gulpur and 84 MW New Bong hydropower projects. He has been appointed as members of various committees within and outside PPIB office.

Professionally he is a Civil Engineer. He did his Bachelors in Civil Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore in early 1990 and M.Sc. (Hydropower Engineering) from Center of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering- UET Lahore. He got his degree in PhD from UET Taxila. Besides his qualification in engineering studies, he has excellent knowledge in computer literacy. He possesses diplomas in various computer languages and packages like C++, Java, RoadCalc, AutoCAD, Primavera etc. He has gone through various local and foreign trainings/courses in Management, Finance, Hydropower and Computers.

He has diversified experience of around 30 years, of supervising the construction of big industrial units specifically Cement and Power sector projects and of providing consultancy services to national and international firms/organizations in Hydropower sector particularly with German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and WAPDA. His specialty is in hydropower engineering and development.

Besides, his responsibility in office, he is appointed from time to time a visiting faculty for teaching MSc. /PhD class in National University of Science and Technology (NUST) Islamabad since year 2013. He is also appointed as Member of the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) in NUST.
